JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you driven by the challenge of ensuring impeccable data quality and building sophisticated automated testing frameworks? Green Dot Corporation is seeking a Lead SDET Engineer—a visionary leader committed to elevating our Data Warehouse Engineering team’s approach to quality assurance and automation. 

This pivotal position sits at the heart of Green Dot’s strategic priorities of Data Governance and Data Quality. As a Lead SDET Engineer, you will wield significant influence across technical teams, pioneering innovative practices that guarantee the reliability, security, and performance of our enterprise data platforms. 



Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect, design, and implement advanced automated data quality frameworks tailored for complex data warehouse environments, including ETL pipelines, data lakes, and high-volume reporting systems. 
  • Strategize and execute comprehensive QA methodologies for data ingestion, transformation, and analytics, ensuring data consistency, completeness, and accuracy at every stage. 
  • Coordinate closely with data engineering, analytics, and product teams to establish detailed test plans, crystal-clear acceptance criteria, and rigorous release checkpoints. 
  • Expand and maintain regression test suites, performance benchmarks, and robust data validation scripts that safeguard our systems against defects and regressions. 
  • Lead defect discovery and root cause analysis, facilitating cross-functional collaboration to rapidly resolve data-related issues. 
  • Mentor and guide QA engineers, championing a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement across the team. 
  • Define and uphold QA standards, contributing to the ongoing evolution of testing methodologies and internal best practices. 
  • Delivering and presenting Data Quality framework related proofs of concepts to key stakeholders and internal technology leaders. 
  • Leading and coordinating the design and operationalization of Data Governance capabilities like – data lineage, data catalog, data quality, etc.  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field preferred. 
  • 7+ years of overall software quality engineering experience is required primarily with Data warehouse applications, with 3+ years in a technical leadership role. 
  • Demonstrated expertise with automation tools, including Query Surge, Test Rails, PyTest, Postman, and dbt tests, as well as custom scripting for QA processes. 
  • Comprehensive experience in testing data pipelines, and leading data warehouse platforms (such as AWS Redshift), and ETL tools (such as Informatica). 
  • Proficient in CI/CD technologies (Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and cloud infrastructure management, preferably AWS. 
  • Strong command of SQL for data modeling, schema validation, and complex query analysis. 
  • Deep knowledge of data governance frameworks, lineage tracking, and compliance standards including SOC 2 and GDPR, ensuring our data practices meet industry and regulatory expectations. 
  • Hands-on familiarity with performance testing tools and operational monitoring frameworks to proactively identify and address system bottlenecks. 
  • Advanced scripting ability in Python or Java for test automation and data validation tasks.  
  • Expertise in understanding complex business needs, analyzing, designing, and developing solutions. 
  • Communication and professional skills and the ability to navigate relationships across business units.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in fintech or enterprise data platforms.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse operational domains such as partner reporting, compliance analytics, and business intelligence.
  • Contributions to open-source QA frameworks or technical publications.
  • Demonstrated leadership in building scalable QA practices, as outlined in internal QA leadership guidance.

PAY RANGE

The targeted base salary for this position is $139,900 to $199,300 per year. The final compensation will be determined by a number of factors such as qualifications, expertise, and the candidate’s geographical location.
