About Brook Health

Brook Health delivers care beyond the walls of the doctor’s office. Brook provides people living with chronic conditions a highly personalized experience enhanced by AI and powered by mobile apps, connected devices, and a team of health coaches and clinicians. The company helps people achieve their long-term health goals by supporting smart, daily decisions and partnering with their primary care physicians.

The organization has an intentional, user-centric culture with high expectations for delivering better health outcomes for patients, providers, and health systems.

Job Overview

Are you constantly tinkering with the latest workflow automation tools? Love vibe coding apps in your spare time? If so, we’d like to talk to you.

The Marketing Automation Specialist is both a builder and a strategist — someone who loves connecting ideas, data, and technology to power Brook’s marketing engine. This role designs, implements, and optimizes automated workflows that engage patients and partners at scale, ensuring every message is timely, personalized, and compliant.

Working closely with the Growth Marketing Manager, this individual builds and refines automations in Customer.io and related platforms, driving seamless data flow between marketing, product, and internal systems. They bring a mix of creativity, technical fluency, and curiosity — eager to test, learn, and iterate quickly.

The ideal candidate is a systems thinker who sees the big picture while managing the details that make automation work. They’re energized by growth, unafraid to experiment or “break things” in pursuit of better outcomes, and equally ready to own, fix, and optimize what they build.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Automation & Workflow Development: Designs, builds, and maintains smart, data-driven workflows in Customer.io to support outreach across email, SMS, and in-app messaging. Translates campaign ideas into automated journeys that guide patients through onboarding, engagement, and retention. Tests, QAs, and continuously optimizes automations for timing, logic, and performance.

Systems Integration & Data Management: Partners with Product, Data, and Engineering teams to ensure accurate, real-time data flow between Brook’s internal systems, CRMs, and marketing platforms. Troubleshoots sync errors, mapping issues, and data gaps to keep automations running smoothly. Maintains organized and well-documented event triggers, attributes, and tag structures.

Journey Optimization & Experimentation: Collaborates with the Growth team to analyze automation performance and identify opportunities for improved personalization, segmentation, and timing. Supports A/B testing, interprets results, and applies learnings to enhance engagement and conversion.

Compliance & Documentation: Ensures all communications meet HIPAA and SOC 2 standards. Maintains clear, detailed documentation for workflows, logic, and integrations to ensure transparency, reproducibility, and audit readiness.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Works closely with Growth, Clinic Operations, and Partner Success teams to align automation strategies with the full patient and provider journey. Communicates effectively with non-technical stakeholders to expand organizational understanding of marketing automation capabilities.

Continuous Improvement: Applies curiosity and systems thinking to propose improvements that enhance efficiency, connectivity, and user experience. Demonstrates ownership, creativity, and a builder’s mindset in every project.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven experience with Customer.io, HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or a comparable marketing automation platform.
  • Strong understanding of customer journey design, segmentation, and trigger-based automation.
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS and comfort navigating structured data such as JSON or event schemas.
  • Analytical thinker with proficiency in Google Sheets/Excel; experience with Looker, Tableau, or SQL is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong QA instincts and comfort managing regulated workflows.
  • Creative problem-solver who enjoys building scalable systems and troubleshooting data flows.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across Growth, Product, Data, and Engineering teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in marketing operations, marketing automation, or technical digital marketing.
  • Hands-on experience building and optimizing automated workflows across multiple channels (email, SMS, in-app).
  • Exposure to CRM and data integration through APIs or event-based systems.
  • Experience with A/B testing, lifecycle optimization, and performance measurement.
  • Familiarity with healthcare, healthtech, or other HIPAA-compliant environments is a plus, not required.

Working at Brook

  • Fast-paced environment – Brook operates in two of the fastest changing industries in America – Healthcare and Technology. We move quickly to design tools and protocols based on customer and industry feedback. Thriving in an environment of change and continuous improvement is a core competency for all members of our team.
  • Dynamic roles - We are a small and tight-knit team enthusiastically tackling difficult problems in an entrenched industry. All team members are expected to contribute to company protocols, provide product feedback and to generally think critically about our processes and care model.
  • High expectations - We have big goals for the future. We expect dedication and positive collaboration from all our team to achieve them.

This position is not eligible for relocation or visa sponsorship. Candidates must live within a commuting distance from the office. This is a hybrid role, onsite in the office required weekly along with remote work (4 days onsite, 1 remote.)
